A deeply personal investment is needed to guide others to phenomenal results. Operating in balance between both facts and feelings, great leaders inspire others to do their best work. So check in with yourself regularly, assessing how you truly feel, especially when facing challenging questions or problems. Then allow both feelings and facts to inform your understanding, and your course of action. In doing so, you will discover your own connection between heartfelt candor and a greater ability to foster the support of others.
Note: In January 2008, over 100 of these tips will appear in my new book: Beyond Effective: Practices in Self-aware Leadership. Click on the image of the book at the top of this blog to be notified by the publisher when it’s available.
